See what you can build

Eight business apps built with AppMaker, each followed through its everyday work.

• 3:12 Brightline Field Service Two apps for a home-services business: dispatch in the office and jobs on the technician's phone, from the first call to the customer's signature.
• 4:14 AutoPilot Shop management for independent auto repair: check-in, inspection, estimates and approvals, the repair, the invoice and payment.
• 2:53 Encore Dance Studio One app with two faces: a portal where members book classes and join waitlists, and a back office for the timetable, check-in and sales.
• 4:16 SpectraLIMS Quality control for a specialty chemicals plant, from the batch to the certificate of analysis, with every result traceable.
• 4:31 Riverbend EnviroLIMS Environmental testing, from river sampling on a phone, through chain of custody and hold times, to the final report.
• 4:07 Northfield VetLIMS A veterinary diagnostic lab: accessioning, species-specific reference intervals, critical-value calls and pathologist sign-out.
• 4:27 Meridian LES A laboratory execution system that turns analytical methods into guided procedures, with every measurement and decision on record.
• 4:37 LIMS Customer Portal A white-label portal where a testing lab's customers request tests, follow their samples and download certified reports.

These are demo apps with sample data. The businesses, people and results shown are fictional.

Understanding AppMaker

What the platform is, how an app is put together, and how each part works. Most run about two minutes.

The big picture

• 1:46 Understanding AppMaker How an app fits together: forms, server scripts and the database, and the path of one click.
• 1:13 Why AppMaker Off-the-shelf software rarely fits and building from scratch takes months. What a ready-made platform changes.
• 2:11 What is a full-stack app? Front end, back end and database: why real apps need all three, and how one project holds them.
• 2:19 Forms, code and scripts What an app is made of, from modules and forms to the database, jobs, workflows and APIs.

Building with AI, and the alternatives

• 2:28 Vibe coding with AppMaker Describe an app, watch it build and test itself, try it as each role, and ask for a change in plain words.
• 2:47 AI for professional developers What the agent does in your project, how to brief it and read its code, and how you stay in control.
• 1:57 AppMaker vs. Claude Code AppMaker's agent runs on Claude models too. The difference is where the AI works, and when to choose each.
• 1:45 AppMaker vs. traditional low-code A lighter path than an enterprise platform, and when the enterprise platform is the better fit.

Forms and screens

• 2:09 Widgets for business apps The building blocks of every screen: what each control is for, and when to pick it.
• 2:01 Opening forms Modals, drawers, popups, stacked forms, navigation and frames: arguments in, a result back.
• 2:28 Master-detail screens A list and the record you picked from it: the grid, the bound panel, child rows and saving back.
• 2:09 Compose UIs with frames Build a screen from parts you design once, each a real form with its own code.
• 2:17 Scrollable forms Pages whose content grows and pushes the end of the page down.
• 2:05 Building mobile apps The same forms and server scripts, designed for a phone held in one hand.

Data and server code

• 2:15 The built-in database Designing tables, and reading and writing them safely from server scripts, with transactions.
• 2:24 Calling server scripts Calling the server from a form in every spelling, and sharing code with client scripts.
• 2:33 The common APIs What your code can use in the browser, and what it can use on the server.
• 2:22 Exposing APIs Your server functions as REST endpoints, for other systems to call.
• 2:00 File uploads Taking files from your users, keeping them on the server and handing them back.

Sign-in and roles

• 2:24 Sign-in, roles and shells Put an app behind a login, decide who sees what, and choose the frame around your forms.
• 1:52 A shell per role One app for the office and the field, each with the frame that suits it.
• 3:00 Single sign-on One set of accounts for two apps, and how to connect them, step by step.

Automation

• 2:08 Scheduled jobs Run a server function every few minutes, or every weekday at seven thirty.
• 2:21 Long-running workflows Processes that wait for time or for people, and survive a restart.
• 1:49 Work in the background Hand slow work to a worker thread and follow its progress from a form.
